In essence, a small form factor pluggable (SPF) is a fiber optic module that fits into an Ethernet switch or media converter’s SFP socket. Data can be transferred and received with ease by converting Ethernet signals into optical signals. The wavelength of each is assigned at a specific distance, so each one works at a different wavelength.
